Veterinary Acupuncture Referrals for Equine & Companion Animals

At Healing Tails, we offer specialist veterinary acupuncture services for both equine and small animal patients. Our treatments are available via veterinary referral only, and we work closely with referring vets to support the well-being and recovery of your animal patients.

What is Veterinary Acupuncture?

Veterinary acupuncture is a gentle, holistic treatment that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing and restore balance. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and increasingly supported by modern research, acupuncture can benefit a wide range of conditions in animals, including:

  • Chronic pain (e.g. arthritis, back pain, laminitis)

  • Neurological conditions (e.g. nerve damage, intervertebral disc disease)

  • Musculoskeletal issues (e.g. soft tissue injuries, lameness)

  • Gastrointestinal disorders (e.g. colic, diarrhea, IBD)

  • Post-surgical recovery

  • Stress and behavioural concerns

Acupuncture is drug-free, well-tolerated, and can be used alongside conventional treatments or as part of an integrative care plan.

How the Referral Process Works:

We welcome veterinary referrals for horses, dogs, cats, and other companion animals. Referring is quick and straightforward:

  1. Complete the Online Referral Form
Simply fill out our secure Veterinary Referral Form with relevant clinical history, diagnosis, and any imaging or lab results. If you have recent notes or discharge summaries, these can also be uploaded via the form.

  2. We'll Contact the Owner
Once we receive your referral, we’ll reach out to the client directly to arrange an initial consultation. We are happy to answer any questions they may have about the treatment or process.

  3. Ongoing Communication
We’ll keep you updated on your patient’s progress with regular reports and treatment outcomes. We value collaboration and believe that integrative care leads to the best results.
